Cabarete is a small, fun-loving beach town on the North coast of the Dominican Republic. Sunshine, white sand beaches lined with palm trees, bright flowers growing wild all around, it’s a tropical paradise.
In the daytime, Cabarete is a flurry of activity. Our consistent world-class wind and waves make the town a popular water- and windsports destination.
Surfers and stand-up paddleboarders are typically out in the mornings, before the wind picks up. From 11am onwards, it’s playtime for the kiters and windsurfers.
For those who prefer to spend time being active on land, there is no shortage of options in Cabarete.
Onsite at eXtreme, you can take a class at our lovely ocean-facing yoga studio, learn a new trick on the flying trapeze, or join in a fun group workout at our fitness gym. Our pool is one of the finest in town, perfect for relaxing by with a book and taking a dip. We even have a hammock for naptime.
The hotel backs onto Kite Beach so, if you’re a kiteboarder, you couldn’t be better located. We have a handy patch of grass and hose which makes cleaning off your gear a breeze, as it’s set away from the sand.
If sustainable agriculture is of interest to you, our aquaponic farm is a cool day trip out of town. Learn about the awesome permaculture-inspired systems, pick and eat exotic fruit off the many trees at Taino Farm.
The tour ends with a chill float down the river on a rubber dingy (with a beer?), and a lovingly prepared Dominican lunch.
For those restless souls in need of daily novelty, Cabarete is located near natural caves, snorkeling and dive spots, peaceful rivers, golf courses, mangroves, and a beautiful mountain range.
There are a good few adventure companies who take day trips canyoning, rappelling down waterfalls, rafting, and exploring the mountainside on horseback.
If you’re feeling adventurous, you can make your way to most of these sites without a tour company. Ask at the hotel reception, we can point you in the right direction and sort you out with reliable transport.
You can hike the tallest peak in the Caribbean, charge around the jungle on mountain bikes or ATVs (quad bikes). You can feed tiny monkeys and zipline over the wild Dominican countryside. You can explore hidden beaches and deserted islands on a little boat.
Cabarete is an adventure playground. The main limit to your activities is how much excitement you can take! Thrill-seekers, you’ve found your home.
The fun doesn’t stop when the sun goes down, either.
In the evenings, Cabarete Beach is buzzing with nighttime delights: open mic nights, karaoke, bachata dancing, full moon parties, live music, DJ sets. There is always something going on at night on the beach.
I sincerely hope that’s enough reasons to consider Cabarete for your active adventure vacation. It’s a sporty, outdoor dream out here.
