Do you have problems with your skin? Are you experiencing pain or discomfort, or problems with your digestion? Have you neglected your healthy habits lately?
It’s probably time to take care of your liver health. Time to detox!
The liver is one of the vital organs of the human body. It filters harmful substances and stops them from reaching the bloodstream and from there the organs and the rest of the body. It performs essential functions, such as detoxification, protein synthesis and the production of nutrients necessary for digestion.
When you cleanse the liver of the accumulated toxins, you renew and enhance its function, and you offer better protection to your whole body. The modern lifestyle burdens liver function and makes it even more important to improve your eating habits. Healthy eating habits will not only cleanse your body from toxins, but they will also facilitate weight loss and improve your overall well-being.
Here are some simple practices that can improve your liver health and function, and help you lose weight and stay fit.
Drink plenty of water. Water detoxifies your liver and helps eliminate toxins. Drinking plenty of water, at least 2 liters a day, will keep you hydrated, which is a prerequisite for cell regeneration. Water will also help the liver filter out more toxins and residues and allow it to work faster and increase your body’s level of energy and well-being.
Drink coffee. Coffee can help you protect your liver. According to studies it prevents the accumulation of fat and collagen that are responsible for liver disease.
Minimize alcohol. Cleanse your liver by reducing the consumption of alcohol. Replace it with mineral water and natural herbal infusions that will allow your liver to regenerate.
Add lemon and lime to your diet. Every morning when you wake up, drink a glass of water with lemon juice. Lemon enhances the detoxifying properties of the liver, while the citric acid in it stimulates the liver to produce more bile, which is another way of cleansing the body. Water with lemon also prevents the accumulation of gallstones and eases digestion.
Drink green tea. Green tea is rich in catechins which are natural antioxidants. Green tee has antioxidant properties, and it enhances liver function while helping to reduce fat stored in it.
Drink smoothies from fresh fruit and vegetables. Fruits such as strawberries, blackberries, and blueberries enhance liver health. These fruits have organic acids, which lower blood sugar levels and help you burn fat. Smoothies from vegetables such as cucumber and celery also help cleanse your liver and enjoy all the health benefits.
– In the morning, eat as many fresh fruits or vegetable juice as you want. Cucumber juice and celery juice are especially beneficial. It is preferable not to mix your fruit and vegetable juices, but you can add water if you like.
– At noon, drink diluted juice, eat a raw vegetable or salad. Do not use the standard dressing for your salad. Make your own from olive oil and lemon or apple cider and fresh herbs and spices of your choice. If you’re hungry during the day, eat a snack of fresh vegetables – celery or cucumber sticks are perfect.
– In the evening, eat fresh fruit, and drink celery juice or cucumber juice.
Poor nutrition can lead to the accumulation of fat in the liver. Foods that contain a lot of preservatives, fats, and cholesterol cause liver damage.
Avoid fast-food meals. Try to avoid fried foods or canned meats (such as sausages, bacon, salted beef, etc.)
Avoid bad fats. Fatty red meats, fried foods, and processed fats should be avoided as they can clog your liver. Processed fats include margarine, fat, and hydrogenated oils.
Avoid artificial sweeteners, processed sugar, pigments, and preservatives.
Eat your vegetables. One of our strongest allies for liver cleansing is green leafy vegetables, whether eaten raw, cooked, or even in juice. Their extremely high chlorophyll content makes them absorb environmental toxins from the blood. With their distinct ability to neutralize heavy metals, chemicals, and pesticides, these foods are a powerful protection mechanism for the liver.
