EXCELLENT Based on 42 reviews Lexi Novitske2025-02-27Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Ideal place to book for a private group. On the best part of kite beach (where it’s still a safe water entry but less crowded). Great team, great healthy food, all around loved it. Thank you! The whole place just a has such a relaxing and chill vibe. You'll be hard pressed to find staff that are more attentive and helpful. There is so much to do around the hotel you'll be wishing your stay was longer. Marcial Ferreccio2024-08-23Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We had an incredible week at the hotel. The location is perfect for kiteboarding—just a short walk to the beach. My son, who doesn’t kiteboard, loved taking walks along the beach in the mornings and practicing yoga. Nice place to go along with my son as I was able to enjoy kiteboarding, knowing that my child was in a safe place. It’s the ideal spot for both relaxation and activity! Jaime Benedit2024-08-19Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We had an amazing time at Extreme Hotels! The location is perfect, right in front of the beach, which was ideal for our kitesurfing trip with friends. In the mornings, we trained with Gio, who’s fantastic for gym routines. We enjoyed healthy and delicious meals, and spent our afternoons kitesurfing. The place is peaceful, the rooms are very comfortable. I can’t wait to go back! Maria Pavlovsky2024-08-19Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Extreme Hotels was exactly what I was looking for and didn’t know I’d finally find. I’m a young remote worker who enjoys traveling while working. This hotel provided the perfect space for me to do that. Not only was I able to work peacefully, but I also took full advantage of every morning and evening. I got excited about the morning gym workouts and enjoyed the sea and the sun in the afternoons. Thanks to the staff for being so kind—I have the best memories! Simple, healthy, and most importantly, super safe. I felt right at home. esme2024-07-06Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. fun pool and great access to beach 😺 Sara Casey2024-07-01Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. The location of this hotel is premier. It sits beautifully on the beach and offers a great view of the ocean at sunrise. The hotel itself is in deplorable condition. The description of being cooled by the ocean breeze is not accurate. The facilities themselves are less than safe. The tiles in the shower stalls are broken and poorly maintained. There are blocks holding up the beds. Electrics outlets are hanging from the walls. Ventilation windows are left without screens. The sliding doors to the balcony are so rusted the doors don’t slide. The chairs in the dining area are broken and in need of replacing. The pool was not clean with debris in it daily. The pipes and faucets spew brown water from rust. My room even had an exquisite bigger collection on the wall! I love the idea of having a “green” establishment. The web site truly does not depict the true conditions this old hotel. It looks as though someone bought an abandoned hotel, slapped on a layer of caulk or paint and labeled it “green”. My suggestion- go 800 ft down the road to a much better facility. raisa fuksman2023-08-04Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I stayed in eXtreme for two weeks in May and loved every minute of it. I left feeling so much better about myself and with a greater understanding of what my body can do and how to look after it. Bonus I lost 9lbs in while I was there as well! I loved the fitness classes which were so fun and functional and the trainers adapted to everyones needs and abilities. The gardens were beautifully kept and had so many varieties of fruits growing on the trees, an abundance of freshly grown herbs and the cute little chickens roaming around all day was just delightful. Such a world away from the hustle and bustle of New York. Every morning, I would step out onto the white sand and jump in the ocean, heaven! Robbie the owner would join us for dinner and share his knowledge of the area and engage in his fitness and nutrition understanding. Melanie was an angel, helping me with nutrition advice and allowing me to see what my body was capable of, by then end I could see the results. I had fun on the farm excursion and also enjoyed the local beach restaurants (under her guidance). I felt more balanced and so much calmer and happier when I left. I cannot wait to come again very soon with my girlfriends to share the experience of Cabarete and the hotel with its program. Thank you to all the staff who made me feel so welcomed and cared for, I won’t forget it! ❤️ and hugs to all 🥰 Carolyn Dusenbury2023-06-21Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. What a true delight to stay at this hotel on a yoga retreat in February! The comfortable, clean room was a few steps from the beach and property pool. At the time of our stay, the kite surfers were close by and entertained with a parade of color and athleticism. Attentive to any requests, this hotel owner and staff hosted our team with professionalism and kindness. Our package included breakfasts and dinners --- the freshest fruit and vegetables were delicious! I was here to deepen my yoga practice, and the experience to hear the gentle surf and meditate in the yoga loft was therapeutic and healing. The hotel property has been beautifully landscaped with lush palms and colorful plants. A relaxing day at the pool is a must. We also enjoyed the close proximity to shops and restaurants. I am the first to admit that I occasionally indulge in diet soda, but light soda doesn’t translate into better health or waistline. Is diet better than regular soda? Yes. The reality is- you without the diet soda; is thinner than you with the diet soda. Lets look into the facts of a ten year study.
The research simply involved diet soda drinkers to non soda drinkers. The honest study showed that all waistlines grew, the diet drinkers had a 70% increase in belly bulge and 5 times the increase in waist size.
[progress_circle value=”70″ icon=”user” style=”solid”]Solid Style[/progress_circle] [numbers stop=”5″ suffix=”x” icon=”user” size=”big”]Waist Size Increase[/numbers]The results left the researchers from the School of Medicine at The University of Texas Health Science Center shocked and the answers are still under debate. Here are the possible explanations.
Artificial Sweetness Tricks The Brain?
“Some studies suggest that when our taste buds sense sweetness, the body expects a calorie load to accompany it. When that doesn’t happen, it may cause us to overeat because we crave the energy rush our body was expecting,” says Cheryl Forberg R.D., author of Flavor First.
Another Bad Habit
“Often times these soft drinks are consumed with fast foods, fried foods, etc.—sometimes as a rationale that their zero-calorie diet soda is negating or mitigating the harmful effects of the fast food simply because the beverage has no calories,” Forberg says
Being healthy is typically a reward for good habits and discipline. Those who drink poorly generally eat poorly. Simple as that.
Biology Isn’t Stupid
Yup, this would be my personal favorite (and my own hypothesis). Zero calorie is zero nutrient. When I cave in, I personally drink soda when I am hungry and hot. It’s refreshing and the carbonation has a volumetric effect (makes you feel full). Basically you just tricked your brain and stomach into thinking it has some kind of nutrient/calorie source. But it has neither; and 40 minutes from now you will be even more hungry and craving sweets.
Fact of the matter is that diet soda is best left alone. If you have no choice or are in the Caribbean fiend-ing a diet soda make sure you pair it with a healthy meal or choose some alternatives. Water, green tea, seltzer water (if you’re craving the carbonation), or even coffee and make you and your body happier through health.
What do you expect from working out? You may say health, but the first thing that pops into most peoples minds is a six pack or flat abs.
What do you do? Crunches and situps makes up most of your “core” work. Trainer cliche here, but diet shapes your midsection. Exercise builds your body and fitness. So choose your exercises wisely. Heres the ugly truth. Burning enough calories to shed one pound of fat = 250,000 crunches, according to researchers at the University of Virginia. That’s 100 crunches a day for seven years. Good use of your time? I think not. Graduate from the superficial ab work and discover some functional core work.
Your core is made up of many muscles but the neglected and underrated are the muscles that lie beneath the superficial ones: your transverse abdominis, multifidis, and internal obliques. Strengthening them pulls in your middle creating a natural brace, keeping the area looking flat and toned. Wanna start now? Its easy… Are you sitting down in an office chair? Perfect! Get out of your slouch, shoulders back, crown of your head tall, now pull your belly button into your spine. It may be awkward and maybe even uncomfortable but notice how your back feels supported, your posture improves and if you don’t feel more confident. You sure look like it. Studies have proven that a simple fix in posture not only increases your own confidence but portrays positive traits to others.
Are you still holding it? Chances are you let it go and rolled forward. You must be weak right? Shoulders too tight? You’re just tired? Maybe its your butt? Actually, it most likely is the culprit. I am constantly fascinated at the interconnectivity of our body and mind. The connection here is compromised by the countless hours of you sitting at your office, car, couch, etc. Your innocent glutes have been jailed and deemed useless due to your hip flexors—the muscles that connect your hipbones to your legs—to become stiff and immobile. This couch-potato combo tilts your pelvis forward, which increases the arch in your back and puts stress on your spine. From a cosmetic standpoint, it pushes your abdomen out, making even a relatively flat stomach bulge. That means that to lose your gut, you’ve got to open those hips and work that butt.
Allow the exercise to shape your booty, not your food. Eliminating excess sugar is the easiest way to start your journey to health and reduce the belly fat that is covering up that six pack. It may seem counter intuitive but eating fats is key to weight loss. Healthy fats like the ones you find in fish, nuts, avocados, and even saturated fats -in moderation of course- offer a plethora of benefits from brain health to increased satiety.
Depriving yourself of critical macronutrients will only send your mood and diet crashing into the ground. Arguably the most important nutrient for those who are active is protein. Not only does it aid in muscle recovery but stimulates hormones to burn fat while keeping your hunger at bay.
The most elusive cause of poor health is no doubt stress. It can easily be the source or solution to all the issues I have addressed above. The hormonal effect is fat producing, even without the compound issue of emotional eating. Give yourself time to unwind. A 5 minute break at work, a morning walk, after work yoga, 10 minutes of meditation anywhere in between. Stress can’t always be prevented but it can be controlled. Keep the sabotage junk food out of your house and don’t ignore your stress. Identify the cause and let it go. Life is too short to be unhappy.
All of this has a funny synergy to it. Maybe it all starts with embracing compassion and the meandering journey it may lead. Embracing health and living a little longer doesn’t hurt.
