Nutrition
During your retreat, it’s important not just to lose weight or tone up, but to adopt a healthier lifestyle that you can maintain. Proper nutrition can be a game changer, keeping the body healthy, and lowers the risk of serious health problems. Your body is your vehicle – fuel it well! The most unique part of our weight loss camp is that we offer healthy, organic, vegetarian farm-to-table meals, locally sourced from our sister farm. We also grow some of the produce ourselves. We are a socially and eco-conscious resort that where the values of sustainable and ecological tourism are at the forefront.
Fitness & Yoga Classes
Our trainers come from all over the world and are able to deliver a variety of training classes during your weight loss fitness retreat. During your stay, the trainers can work with you on an individualized level, tailoring your weight loss program to your personal goals. It’s not just about fitness, nutrition, and health, but also educating and explaining current fitness trends, giving you the knowledge required to maintain your fitness and health regimen long-term. We offer standard CrossFit, HIIT, and Strength Conditioning fitness classes in our barefoot tiki gym and an evening yoga class where you can unwind and melt into a nice meditative savasana. Here are some different training styles you may experience at eXtreme Fitness Camps:
Restorative Yoga
Restorative yoga is a relaxing form of yoga where you hold the postures for a longer period of time. Unlike more active yoga styles such as vinyasa or Bikram, you can expect to hold a pose for 5 minutes or more, only performing a handful of poses in one restorative yoga session. It’s a restful practice that’s all about slowing down and opening your body through passive stretching; supportive, therapeutic, and healing.
Circuit Training
Circuit Training incorporates a sequence of exercises performed at a quick rate one right after the other usually set up in a series of stations (cardio, weight training, and resistance training). This class combines a number of exercises performed with short rest periods between them for a set number of repetitions. A full Circuit Training Class can be multiple rounds depending on the duration of the class. An example of equipment used could be: treadmill, bicycle, row machine, free weights, TRX or resistance bands, jumping jacks, push-ups, abs, etc.
HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training)
High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) incorporates bouts of high intensity activity followed by a period of active or passive recovery. This type of training enables one to burn extra calories and to increase his/her aerobic capacity by moving from one cardio activity to another with little to no rest in between. Combining body weight, muscle conditioning, cardio, and plyometric training moves, a 35-40 minute HIIT class gets the job done. No equipment is needed but can be integrated depending on the specific exercise.
Mat Pilates
“Mat Pilates” is a Pilates training practice that can be done on a mat, meaning, no reformer is used. In this class, participants hold movements like planks, side planks, and core exercises to build your muscle groups and core strength. Pilates is a mind, body, and spirit practice with benefits that include improved posture and spine health, coordination and balance, increased body awareness, stress management, and injury prevention.
Abs & Glutes
This is a shorter class consisting of toning and strengthening exercises specifically for the core and glutes/legs. A combo of these exercises work the muscles efficiently and in a slow and controlled manner. Improves muscle tone and strength, posture, and defines abdominal area.
