How to stay fit and healthy over 40: tips for men
Pre-framing, Part 3
Pre-framing, Part 3
You know so much more now, compared to what you knew when you were a young man. All your years of experience have made you wiser but, in some settings, like the pursuit of fitness and health, you’ll just need to adjust your behavior to keep up with the changes that happen to your body with age. That’s why men over 40 need to take a slightly different approach to fitness than their younger friends.
During your 20s and 30s, most of your energy was devoted to your career, so maybe now in your 40s, it’s about time to pay more attention to your fitness and health. Now is the ideal time to start developing healthy habits that will keep you feeling good for years to come. Which will, of course, also be good for your overall well-being and your career. Time to start making it a priority to stay fit!
On the other hand, making fitness a priority is easier said than done. People depend on you both at work and at home. Your schedule is grueling, and it’s just so tempting to just sit on the couch and watch TV after work. No need to feel bad about it. Most men over 40 struggle with the same thing. The stress and the pressure to provide, and the emails that never stop coming, make your lifestyle so draining. On top of that, you feel frustrated by your own inactivity, despite the fact that you are simply doing your best.
Let me reassure you, though, that the lack of energy is by no means an indication of lack of commitment. No need to keep blaming yourself. So many people today pay a subscription to a gym they never visit or buy gym equipment they never use. And yet there is a way out of this energy-empty trap. There is actually action you can take to escape this vicious cycle of lack of energy, frustration, and back to work only to return even more drained.
You see, most hard-working professionals think they are failing to take good care of their body because they don’t have enough time, or they haven’t found the right regimen for them. But, more often than not, this is not the problem.
You can definitely carve out a couple of hours in your week to devote to your fitness and health. What you lack is the knowledge of what’s right for you and how you can incorporate it seamlessly into your routine. What you are missing is a ‘restart’.
Changing your habits is never easy. People keep repeating the same motions every day, often wondering why change isn’t happening. Well, guess what? Nothing will ever change—not for the better, anyway—if you keep repeating the same patterns. Work. Home. Eat fatty food on the couch. Sleep. Work. Repeat.
Well, probably you need some help hitting ‘restart’ and readjusting your routine. And you know the best way to do this? Press ‘stop’ first and take some time off at a fitness camp. Extreme Fitness Camps in Cabarete in the Dominican Republic are specially designed for people like you who need to realign their priorities after they hit 40, and focus more on their fitness and health. Our Fitness Camps offer a variety of training options, making it easy for you to try things out firsthand and determine what it is you like and suits your body and style. It could be a classic gym workout or perhaps calisthenics, plyometrics, HIIT, or even flying high on the trapeze. You choose.
Nutrition is also taken care of. Most of the food served at the beachfront restaurant comes from our very own organic Taino farm, and meals are prepared under the instructions of our on-site dietitian. Don’t worry, meals are not just healthy, they are delicious, too. Fruits and vegetables taste so much better coming straight from the tree.
Developing healthy habits comes naturally when you fall in love with healthy living and learn the basics of how to do it.
And you won’t be alone either. You’ll be in great company of like-minded people who join our camps all year long and learn from our vibrant and caring team. We are a great community here, and we can’t wait to welcome you!
Better yet, bring a friend or two. You can come together, share the experience, and hold each other accountable when you return! Double the benefit!
See you soon!
